With Grateful Thanks to Nicolas
Campbell for providing scans of the AA72 Balrog article and all Amstrad Action
covers
The
Balrog was an column about adventure games which ran in the computer magazine
Amstrad Action for nearly four years, starting in issue 49 and finally
finishing in issue 93.
The column featured reviews of new adventures, provided hints, tips and maps for people stuck in adventures and it also provided a service where people could get in touch with other people who had completed certain adventures for help.
The Balrog is an alias for Stuart Whyte, who won Amstrad Adventurer of the Year a few issues before taking this job. This site is a repository of these columns, it also includes the Balrog tutorial for using the Graphic Adventure Creator, an adventure creator for the Amstrad, Commodore 64 and Sinclair Spectrum. Although it was originally written for an Amstrad magazine, it applies to the C64 and Spectrum versions, and also includes example files for all three machines.
